Ann Arbor Art Fair: One of the Hottest Google Search Terms

The ever famous Ann Arbor Art Fairs which lasts for four days are making a buzz on another popular venue: Google. The phrase “Ann Arbor Art Fair” ranked 63rd in Google Trends list for a few hours. Google Trends indicates the hottest terms on Google.

Debra Power, president of Ann Arbor-based Power Marketing & Research said that Ann Arbor Art Fairs are not just a local event, but it is for the nation as well.

As the 63rd in place, Ann Arbor Art Fair was ahead of phrases like All-Star Game 2009″ (No. 84) and “Senate Health Committee” (No. 93).

Matthew Neagle head of Google community affairs in Ann Arbor said that Ann Arbor Art Fair seems to have more searches than Michigan football. He said that Google Trends is the pulse of how consumers are searching on the internet.

Google utilizes an automated algorithm to rank popular searches. Google Trens is a list of the searches that are gaining popularity.

“There’s a shift that is clearly happening in the way that people search for information, and this is in line with that shift. It’s clear that people are going online to search for information about the Ann Arbor Art Fair rather than looking for it in other sources,” Neagle said.

Power Marketing and Research figures say that the festivities make the people spend $48.7 million on shopping, $25.2 million on dining and $5 million on hotels. This was in 2008.

Even though everyone calls it Ann Arbor Art Fair without knowing that there are actually four fairs behind, it is the experience and the joy that counts.
