Ann Arbor Firm Develops New Way to Spot Terrorists

Ann Arbor based company develops a new way of spotting terrorists. There is now a better technology to identify explosives. Something will now replace millimetre wave screening devices and this through the power of terahertz waves.
There have been privacy debates concerning millimetre wave technology but with the researchers of Ann Arbor Advanced Photonix Inc., there might just be a way to enhance security without compromising the privacy of individuals.
Terahertz technology is said to be able to identify dangerous materials without detailing body images.
“With terahertz technology, we can take a more general outline of the subject and just look for metal or explosives in the chemical signatures,” said Richard Kurtz, API’s chairman and chief executive officer. “A lot of the research is out of the way, so the next phase will be development and engineering.”
This technology is still being developed.
