Ann Arbor Health News: Training Brain May Prevent Knee Injuries
| No Comment

Ann Arbor, Michigan – A U.S. researcher suggests that training the brain may be as helpful as training muscles in order to prevent knee injuries.
Scott McLean from University of Michigan Ann Arbor says that in the studies done, there is need to focus above the neck in order to prevent injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee.
McLean said that it may be necessary to train the brain and the reflexes in order to counter the fatigue induced ACL injury risk.
In the study, the researchers had the subject do one-legged squats until they are tired and then they tested the reactions to jumping and movement commands. The results showed that not only the tired leg was a potential for injury, but the other leg as well. Both legs are in danger of being injured.
The findings which were published in Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise suggest that the danger for injury will be lessened if you sharpen the anticipatory skills of the brain.
