Ann Arbor’s organizer of Adopt-A-Family program Debbie Williams-Hoak is going to start a non-profit foundation just in time for next Christmas. Adopt-A-Family program provides holiday gifts for less fortunate children and this year’s repsonse has made her want to start an organization.
Debbie is a professional golfer and she is planning to form the Magic of Christmas Foundation soon. This will allow the program to expand throughout the county. This was something that she had not expected when she started helping children have a better holiday.
Williams-Hoak has partnered with Ann Arbor city and the police department for the past 15 years to help give gifts to families who were having a hard time with their finances. The program has expanded to include the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Deparment and this year, Saline and Dexter as well.
Plans for Chelsea and beyond are on the proces for 2010.
