Fire At Ann Arbor Apartments: No Injuries, Two Cats Rescued
| No Comment

Several people had no place to stay when fire broke out at Ann Arbor apartments Sunday night.
There were eight units at the Meadowbrook Village Apartment on Brookfield Drive that were affected. Half burned by flames and the rest were all ruined by water.
A resident at the apartment complex, Marna Robinson said that they smelled smoke and thought that someone was just barbecuing. When they looked out of the window, they saw flames and it was then that Marna’s husband ran out to tell everyone to evacuate the building. Robinson said that there was nothing they could do except watch the fires grow bigger as the wind fuel them.
Ann Arbor Fire Department Assistant Chief Greg Hollingsworth said that the fire spread easily because of the light-wood frame construction of the apartments.
“Once they get going, they burn pretty easy,” Hollingsworth said.
There were no reported injuries from any residents. There were two cats who were part of the rescue. Castor and Pollex were found in a closet and were given oxygen by the firefighters.
Ann Arbor Fire Captain Steve Lowe said, “They were just sitting there together, so somehow they survived. Strong ones.”
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
