This weekend developers all over the state will gather at Ann Arbor to provide website and software development to non-profits at the Michigan Give Camp.

Give Camp is a partnership between between the local developer community, Microsoft, Washtenaw Community College, Domino’s Pizza, and Verio. It will be held in Ann Arbor this coming July 17-19.

Developers and non-profit will coordinate at the Michigan Give Camp in order to make a software that will cater to the needs of the participating organizations. Developers will work on making software which will be presented to the participants at the end of the event.

Jennifer Marsman from Microsoft said that the non-profits are usually held back by resources when it comes to IT and Give Camp is a free resource where developers can build the tools that the non-profits need. Marsman said that it is a way of giving back something to the non-profits. Knowing that the work over the weekend will go a long way is something that is very rewarding.

Last year’s Give Camp in Ann Arbor gave 15 non-profits over $500,000 in custom development software and web hosting. In addition to that, the participants created GiveTime, a web-based application that give the volunteers an opportunity to schedule to work events in non-profits.
