Hitch It Yourself – Trailer Hitches
Today I’m going to tell you about a friend of mine who has a trailer hitch business near Ann Arbor. His son and my daughter are on the Planet Rock climbing team and going to Nationals this year so I have to promote his business. Do you know how much it costs to send your kid every year far, far away for a climbing competition? And if they make it to Worlds then we leave the country.
Glenn Plagens and his dad started a trailer hitch business when Glenn was a kid. Glenn says that his dad duct taped one of those mechanics creepers to his back so he could go from car to truck to car installing trailer hitches. Needless to say, he knows how to install just about any hitch on any vehicle.
He’s got a great twist on his business, bringing it into the inter-web world. His website Hitch It Yourself . com allows you to order a trailer hitch and towing accessories, including racks, and shows you how to install the trailer hitch yourself. If he hasn’t got the info up yet you can call and ask for help. He’ll tell you right up front just how easy or hard it is to install it yourself with the red, yellow, green stop light system. (I don’t think he ever worked for Ford Engineering.)
Good thing for Ann Arborites, he has a retail location in Livonia, so if you’d prefer to have it done just give them a call for an appointment; 734-293-1004.
He’s also just starting a blog called Hitch It Yourself . net. The plan is for people to add useful information and tips about installing hitches or other things they’ve done with hitches, racks and towing products.
Did you know you can get a custom colored bike rack that attaches to a trailer hitch on your vehicle that will hold up to four bikes? Get a trailer hitch to match your bike or car color.
