May 1 U-M Commencement Main Street Lane Closures
| No Comment
On May 1, President Obama will be delivering his commencement speech at the University of Michigan. Please be informed that all lanes on Main Street, south of Pauline to Stadium Boulevard, will be closed from midnight Friday, April 30 until 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1.
The University of Michigan will be using the field lights and loud speakers at Elbel Field as early as 4 AM on Saturday, May 1 to assemble the graduates. Your patience will be very much appreciated.
Tickets
All family members and guests attending Spring Commencement on Saturday, May 1, including children over age two, need a ticket to enter Michigan Stadium. All tickets are marked with a section number and a range of rows where you are able to sit. There is no cost for tickets.
* Bachelor’s degree recipients are eligible to receive up to eight (8) tickets for guests
* Graduate/Professional (master’s and doctoral) degree recipients are eligible to receive up to four (4) tickets for guests
* Graduates participating in the graduate procession will need a ticket this year
* Graduates must present their student identification (MCard) in order to receive tickets at ticket distribution
Selling tickets is against the law — Each undergraduate student who plans to take part in Commencement receives eight tickets, and participating graduate students are eligible to pick up four tickets for family and friends. It is expected that students will only take the tickets needed for family and friends, and that they will not sell them. These tickets are considered the property of the University of Michigan, and therefore, are not to be sold. University policy states: “Any attempt to sale, resell, donate or otherwise exchange commencement tickets for anything of value will result in your ticket(s) being revoked.” In addition, selling tickets is considered scalping, and is punishable by law.
