May 1 U-M Commencement Update on Parking

As you know, on Saturday, May 1, President Obama will be speaking in Michigan Stadium at the University of Michigan commencement ceremony. As a result of increased security measures, there have been several changes made to normal commencement activities. Residents were notified of the closure of South Main Street  from Pauline to Stadium, from midnight Friday, April 30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1.

Residents living in the vicinity of the stadium will be afforded game-day parking privileges on May 1. This means vehicular parking will be permitted in any legally marked on-street space as well as private lawns and driveways. However, it is important to note that there may be pedestrian or parking restrictions imposed near the stadium that are a result of necessary security precautions. The City and UM will make every effort to communicate any changes as information is provided to us. More commencement details are available on the UM commencement Web site.
